The Moose Jaw Warriors staged a third period rally to pick up a point, but they failed to make the most of their chances to get two.
The Medicine Hat Tigers beat the Warriors’ 3-2 in the shootout in Western Hockey League action Wednesday.
The Warriors scored twice in the third period to force overtime, but led the shootout 2-1. Ryan Stanton couldn’t convert on a chance to win the game in the shootout and former Warrior Deven Dubyk stopped Brendan Rowinski’s final attempt to win the shootout 3-2.
The point gives the Warriors a 32-24-5-5 record. The Warriors are in seventh place in the Eastern Conference. They sit seven points ahead of Prince Albert in the battle for a playoff spot and are two points ahead of Swift Current who are eighth.
After a scoreless first period, the Tigers grabbed a 2-0 lead as Bretton Cameron and Linden Vey opened the scoring.
Connor Cox and Kevin Smith each had a goal and an assist as they the Warriors tied the game in the third period.
Vey, Matt MacKay, Wacey Hamilton scored for the Tigers in the shootout while Jason Bast and Spencer Edwards scored shootout goals for the Warriors.
