The Moose Jaw Canucks lost more than their fair share of close games this Junior C hockey season.
Their season ended Thursday night in a game that wasn’t close, but the Canucks are hoping that some continuity on the ice and off will help them continue to progress.
The Canucks lost Game 2 of their best-of-three playoff series to the Odessa Eagles 12-4. Game 1 was a credible 9-5 loss in Odessa against an Eagles team who were 18-4-4 on the season.
Brock Hoyes scored twice for Moose Jaw Thursday while Josh Hunter and Josh Grywacheski each added a goal and an assist. Justin Cannon also had an assist.
The Canucks only had one 21-year-old graduate, but have four 20-year-olds meaning only two of them will be able to return as well.
The Canucks finished 4-17-5 during the regular season and beat the Regina Mustangs 7-4 and 4-3 to sweep their survivor series and advance to meet Odessa.
