The Moose Jaw Warriors introduced Alan Millar as their new director of hockey operations Friday.

Millar was the general manager/alternate governor of the Ontario Hockey League’s Sarnia Sting from 2004-09 and had the same job title with the OHL’s Guelph Storm from 1997-03. In 2003 he was the director of player personnel with the OHL’s St. Mike’s Majors.

Millar also had a stint with the director of operations/alternate governor for the Saint John Flames in the American Hockey League.

“In talking to a lot of people in the Western Hockey League that I trust and respect and in speaking to the board . . . I think there’s a lot of positives for the future of the Warriors hockey club,” said Millar.

“There’s great things ahead for the Warriors hockey club. We’re in a passionate community that supports the team very well. I understand how vital the community is for the big picture success for our club.”

Millar replaces Jeff Truitt who left the post after one season to become the assistant coach for the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage.

Warriors president Chad Taylor said the hiring of Millar came together quickly.

“We need consistency in this hockey club, we were looking for someone to be the face of the franchise,” said Taylor.

“He just seems like a perfect fit.”

Millar signed a five-year deal with the Warriors and is relocating from Milton, Ont. with his wife Kelly.

“I hope he’s here for 10 years and does well,” said Taylor.

I worked for Alan for two years for the saint John flames of the American Hockey League where under his direction the organization thrived in a declining market. His hockey and front office ability led the flames farm team to an unprecedented level of success unparallelled in it's 58 year history among Canadian AHL franchises. The warriors are in good hands. Alan, good luck and congrats! Patter

Hello Moosejaw I worked with Alan Millar during his tenure with the Saint John Flames of the AHL. At the time the Maritime region had lost more than one AHL franchise and a young Millar was hired to introduce Calgary's farm club to a new city, new building. In a whirlwind two years, under Alan's direction, the organization achieved greater success than any other Canadian based team in the leagues' 58 year history. Congratulation on your new position. Moosejaw, your team is in good hands. "Patter"

Beware......the Sting are just getting out of Millar's mess. His 3 year plan........was still going in year 6. Terrible drafts, his last two first round picks did nothing. One's out of the league (OHL) the other is a bust on another team. Good luck....never thought this guy would get hire again.
