The Moose Jaw Warriors have claimed goaltender Deven Dubyk off of waivers from the Medicine Hat Tigers.
Dubyk, 20, played for the Warriors in 2008-09 and spent the past two seasons as the back-up in Medicine Hat.
Dubyk was 11-5 with a .908 save percentage and 2.89 goals-against-average last season with the Tigers. He was named the CHL goaltender of the week after posting back-to-back shutouts.
He was 4-1 in the playoffs as he started five straight games in the Tigers’ first round win over Brandon as starter Tyler Bunz went down with an injury in Game 1.
With Bunz expected to start in Medicine Hat once again, Dubyk had agreed to go to the SJHL’s Humboldt Broncos who are hosting the Royal Bank Cup.
With the Warriors, Dubyk posted a .866 save percentage and 7-15-1-0 record.
The following season, the 6-foot-3 Minitonas, Man. product was beaten out for the Warriors back-up job by Brandon Glover and was re-assigned to Notre Dame in the SJHL. Two weeks later he was dealt to the Tigers for a sixth round pick in the 2010 draft that netted the Warriors Braydon MacDonald.
