Sam Fioretti scored a goal and added two assists as the Moose Jaw Warriors beat the Portland Winterhawks 4-2 Saturday in Western Hockey League action.
Torrin White gave the Warriors a 1-0 lead when he scored his first goal of the season short-handed.
The Warriors took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission and doubled their lead in the first 2:33 of the middle frame when Jordan Wyton and Brayden Point scored goals 1:10 apart for the Warriors (3-3).
The Winterhawks (4-2) came out strong in the third period. Brendan Leipsic scored on a five-on-three power play before Ty Rattie scored his first goal of the season to get the Hawks back to within two goals.
Daniel Wapple may have had his shutout bid spoiled with 6:15 to go, but the 17-year-old made 32 saves — including a great stop on Rattie on a breakaway — to earn his first WHL victory.
Brendan Burke made 29 saves in the Portland net.
