Team West shut out

Hockey Canada fix

Team Pacific played an entertaining and high scoring affair with Russia at the World Under 17 Hockey Challenge.

Moose Jaw Warriors forward Brayden Point scored a goal and had an assist in Team Pacific's 8-7 overtime win over Russia on Saturday in Quebec.

The 15 combined goals are the most in a World Under-17 Hockey Challenge game since Quebec beat Slovakia 10-6 in a 2009 preliminary round game in Campbell River, B.C.

Russia had seven different players provide their offence in the loss.

Pacific will enjoy a day off Sunday before returning to action against Sweden on Monday afternoon in Drummondville (12:30 p.m.)

Team West didn't fare as well as Pacific, as they were shut out 4-0 by Sweden.

The Swedes scored three times in the second period and three power play goals.

Team West will face the defending gold medallists from Russia in Sunday’s late game at Centre Marcel Dionne (6:30 p.m.)
