West wraps up tourney in ninth place

Team West and Team Pacific wrapped up their time at the World Under 17 Hockey Challenge in Quebec on Thursday.

West defeated Slovakia 4-1 to finish in ninth place in the tournament. This was their first win of the tournament.

Moose Jaw Warriors forward Josh Uhrich scored the second goal and the eventual game winner for Team West.

In the fifth place game, Team Pacific overcame three one-goal leads by Ontario is a 7-6 win. This is the second consecutive year Pacific has placed fifth.

The teams traded six goals in the first period alone. Warriors leading rookie scorer, Brayden Point had one assist in the game.

Throughout the whole tournament and exhibition action, Warriors forwards Uhrich finished one goal and two assists, Miles Warkentine had one goal and Point finished with two goals and three assists. Moose Jaw Generals forward, Rhett Gardner finished with two goals.
