Neuls natural hat trick sparks Moose Jaw to comeback win

Donovan Neuls scored a natural hat trick in a scant five minutes and 40 seconds Saturday.

Neuls outburst sparked his Moose Jaw Generals to score five unanswered goals to beat the Saskatoon Contacts 5-1 in Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League action at Mosaic Place.

The win stretches the Generals unbeaten streak to 11 games. They will go to Notre Dame Sunday to face the league-leading Argos (20-4-1).

The Generals are 15-6-3 on the season.

Jaden Manske opened the scoring for the Contacts midway through the second period, but Neuls got the Generals on the board when he buried a drop pass from Rykr Cole with 23 seconds left in the middle frame.

The late goal sparked the Generals who were out-shooting the Contacts 15-1 at one point in the third period as they dominated the period.

Neuls scored a power play goal on a rebound and then completed his hat trick 5:17 into the period when Jared Dmytriw found him in the slot with a nice pass.

Generals captain Trey Tendler did a great job killing a penalty and then on the next shift dominated along the boards some more on the forecheck. His hard work was rewarded with a goal when he buried his own rebound to put the Generals ahead 4-1.

Brayden Delorme scored a late goal to round out the scoring. Dmytriw and Drew Fellner each had two assists and Tendler finished with two points as well.

Grant Naherniak made 23 saves in the win.
