Warriors lose 4-1 to Brandon

The Brandon Wheat Kings continued their dominance over the Moose Jaw Warriors Saturday.

The Wheat Kings prevailed 4-1 at home to beat the Warriors for the seventh time this season.

The Warriors are 0-5-1-1 in their last seven games and own an 8-21-3-3 record.

The Warriors trailed 2-0 when Tanner Eberle scored to cut the lead in half midway through the second period.

Chad Robinson opened the scoring in the first period for the Wheat Kings who had two goals in the second period to take a 3-1 lead into the third. Jens Meilleur scored into an empty net to ice the game for Brandon.

The Warriors will host the Kamloops Blazers (6 p.m., Mosaic Place) Sunday night. The Blazers beat Saskatoon 3-2 Saturday and head to Moose Jaw riding a three-game winning streak.

Once again it was the Wheat Kings’ depth players who did the damage.

Tyler Coulter — who has four career goals — scored against the Warriors for the third straight game. Quintin Lisoway scored his second goal of the season and he too has now scored in consecutive games against the Warriors.

Rene Hunter finished with three assists for the Wheat Kings.

Jordan Papirny made 19 saves to earn the win for Brandon, while Justin Paulic stopped 17 shots in goal for the Warriors.

Warriors defenceman Alexey Sleptsov returned from a leg injury despite not being 100 per cent healthy.
