Pacific wins western clash at U17s

Pacific scored four first period goals before winning the Western Canadian battle over Team West 6-3 Monday at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

Moose Jaw Warriors goalie made 25 saves to earn the win for Pacific on his 16th birthday.

Team Pacific is now 1-1 at the tournament in Nova Scotia, while Team West is now 0-1.

Jackson Keane, the son of former Moose Jaw Warrior legend Mike Keane, had a pair of assists for Team West. Warrior prospects Ryan Gardiner and Jayden Halbgewachs were held off the scoresheet for Team West.

Matteo Genaro scored a pair of goals for Pacific, while Tyler Benson, Giorgio Estephan, Brad Morrison and Tyler Soy also scored.

Colton Conrad scored twice for Team West while Connor Hobbs had the other goal for the team made up of the top players from Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Team West will play the Czech Republic Tuesday in North Sydney, N.S. and Pacific has the day off.
