Sawchenko gets Hockey Canada invite

The team will open their pre-season on Aug. 26 against Swift Current with the annual rookie game. They will also play a rookie game in Regina on Aug. 28.
There are also weekend series against Swift Current in early September and against Brandon on Sept. 12 and 14.
The regular season begins on Sept. 19 in Swift Current. The Warriors home opener will be Sept. 20 against the Broncos.
Other dates of interest include Nov. 29 when the Hall of Fame game takes place against Saskatoon at Mosaic Place; the Regina Pats will be in town for a New Year’s Eve game and the Warriors head out to B.C. from Feb. 11-21.
The 30th anniversary weekend is Feb. 27 and 28 against Saskatoon and Regina.
The season wraps up with a home-and-home series against Brandon on March 21 and 22.
Annual General Meeting
The Warriors will hold its annual general meeting on July 17 (7 p.m., Heritage Inn).
There is a proposed bylaw addition, which states: if the organization operates an event requiring licencing from Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority, and in the even there remains an unclaimed prize one year after the event, the organization shall donate the unclaimed prize to a registered charity of its choice.
Also, nomination forms must be submitted to the Warriors office no later than July 7 by 4 p.m.
Sawchenko gets invite
Moose Jaw Warriors goaltender Zach Sawchenko received an invite from Hockey Canada.
The 16-year-old Calgary native was one of 44 players to get an offer to their summer under-18 team selection camp for the upcoming Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament.
The camp runs from Aug. 2 to 5, where 22 players, born in 1997 will be selected to represent Canada at the tournament, which is held in the Czech Republic and Slovakia from Aug. 11 to 16.
Canada has won this tournament six years in a row.
