The Moose Jaw Warriors centre was selected 79th overall in the National Hockey League draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Tampa Bay traded up one spot with Minnesota to acquire Point. The Lightning threw in a seventh round pick in 2015 which they had earlier acquired in the trade with Vancouver for Jason Garrison.
Point led the Warriors in scoring with 91 points in 72 games. He finished with 36 goals and 55 assists. Point broke on the scene when he scored seven goals and had 10 points in 14 games during the 2010 WHL playoffs as an underage player.
More to come.
