The Moose Jaw Warriors goaltender was selected as one fo the two goalies for the Canadian under-18 team that will compete at the Memorial of Ivan Hlinka tournament.

The tournament runs from Aug. 11 to 16 in Slovakia. 

The 16-year-old Calgarian native had a strong camp in front of Hockey Canada brass — allowing just two goals on 29 shots over three games.

Eight Western Hockey League players made the roster.

This is the second bit of international experience that Sawchenko has earned after winning a silver medal with Team Pacific at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

Canada will open the tournament against Switzerland.
