Moose Jaw native happy to return home to work on movie projects

For Tamara Harrod, her career first led her away from home, but it has now brought her back.
"I love coming back home," she said.
Harrod is the key hair artist for the film, Finn on the Fly, that is currently being filmed in Moose Jaw.
She was born and raised in Moose jaw, but left to pursue her career in 1985.
"It's a full circle feeling," she said.
Harrod attended Peacock Collegiate and said she grew up on the school's stage. She then went to the Hair Design Academy. Since she left she has worked and lived in many different cities like Halifax, Tokyo and Los Angeles.
"I had no idea this would be my life," she said.
She has been home a couple of times since then, working as a hair stylist on different movies that have been filmed here in the last 22 years.
In the time the crew has been in Moose Jaw, Harrod has seen a lot of people she knows, passing them on the street or seeing them watching the filming in their driveways.
"I actually went to high school with one of the owners of the house," Harrod said, referring to a home in the Chestnut Avenue area where the movie was being shot Wednesday.
Harrod's mother still lives in Moose Jaw, but she likes coming back with a different perspective than she did when she lived here.
"It's nice to be back as a grown-up," she said.
For the next week, she will continue to work on the set, and help give former Saturday Night Live star Ana Gasteyer, one of the stars of the film, wacky and wild hairdos properly befitting a mad scientist.
