Moose Javians filed into council chambers Thursday afternoon to hear what the architects and designers of the Moose Jaw multiplex had to say about the structure.
By the time the presentation was ready to begin the room was full, leaving standing room only for those arriving late.
Brian Quiring from MQN Architects said he was pleased to be involved with the Moose Jaw project.
"This is a very exciting day for us, as I am sure you can all imagine. We have been working on this proposal for quite some time now and it's nice to be a part of this."
He said the reason the multiplex design is particularly exciting is because although this is the fourth arena for him and his partner Dean Huggins, it is the first where they have had to incorporate a curling facility.
"This definitely is a unique project because there were special requirements needed for the curling portion. But nonetheless, it was an exciting challenge."
Quiring and Huggins described both the multiplex and soccer facilities in detail, to help give people a better idea of what they can expect in 2011.
The two men said they envision the 4,500 seat multi-purpose arena as more than just a hockey rink or curling facility. They see it as a place that will house concerts, trade shows, rodeos and more.
In keeping with the historic look of Moose Jaw's downtown, the facility has incorporated brick into its design.
