Moose Jaw Bantam Mustangs lacrosse team achieved a lot this season.
The Mustangs were the best team in southern Saskatchewan all season and after coming home with bronze medals at the Bantam box lacrosse provincials in Saskatoon — finishing one place better than last season.
“We had a very good year. It was very positive for Moose Jaw lacrosse,” said Mustangs coach Rick Eldstrom.
The Mustangs split their pool games to finish in second place. They beat the Regina Rock, but lost to the Saskatoon Bandits. They lost to the Saskatoon Rush in the semifinal.
They rallied to beat the Melville Wings 12-9 in the bronze medal final. Last year they lost the bronze medal game to Prince Albert.
“Everybody played pretty good, especially in our last game,” said Eldstrom. “Everybody dug deep. We knew we were in the medal round and we wanted to bring home a medal.”
It has been a good season for the Mustangs who were tops in the Queen City Box Lacrosse League with a 12-2 record.
Nathan Fall, Moose Jaw’s captain, made the tournament all-star team.
