Young racing brothers Kyle, 11, and Jarret, 9, posted another successful year on their respective two wheels. Kyle finished first in the province in both the 85cc 7-11 age group and 65cc PeeWee classification. Jarret went undefeated in the 50cc 7-8 age group, and finished fourth in the 65cc PeeWee. After four years of racing, Jarret said this has been his best year ever. “I’m a little faster,” he said. It was his first year on the 65cc bike, which meant he had to learn how to shift with a clutch. “It’s a way bigger (challenge),” said Jarret. “On a 50cc I’m three-quarters of a lap ahead. On a 65cc, it depends what the person behind me is riding.” Still, he figured he would come out on top in the 50cc category. “Pretty easily, unless there was a new person,” he said. Kyle’s season was nothing to sneeze at, and he looks to improve upon it next year. “I was expecting probably to be first (in 65),” he said. “In the 85, I was expecting some more competition because there’s a guy who’s bigger than me and can handle the bike a bit better, but you can’t use that as an excuse.”
