A former Moose Jaw resident has made his way into the top 24 finalists for the Canadian Idol title.
Earl Stevenson, 23, of Lloydminster, Alta., spent a year-and-a-half of his life in Moose Jaw, his mother's hometown.
"My mom was born and raised in Moose Jaw and that's where my grandma and grandpa grew up," said the snowboarder turned musician. He lived in the city when he was four and still returns annually to visit an aunt and cousin who live here.
Stevenson also lived in Shaunavon when he was young but spent most of his childhood on an acreage on the Saskatchewan side of Lloydminster.
Stevenson has travelled a lot, living in Europe for three months. Upon his return, he had planned to pursue his favourite hobby of snowboarding in Western Canada, but suffered a knee injury that changed his plans.
