Coronach School

A number of Coronach residents have taken up snow shoeing and are finding it a good way to spend time outdoors and get a good work-out.

Mrs. Cathy Hiltz, Prinipal of the Coronach School, purchased a pair of snow shoes and has been enjoying using them.

Believing that snow shoeing would be a good activity for the students of the school,

Hiltz lined up a set of shoes and the Grade 9 class were the first to try them out.

On Tuesday, January 25, with a warm sun shining and the temperature rising over zero, the group of students walked from the Coronach School, down to the Coronach Golf Course, where they strapped on their snow shoes and headed out.

The students walked backwards around the course on the fairways, being sure to avoid the tee-off boxes and greens.

Deb Karpinski teaches Wellness to the Grade 9s and thought it would be a good activity for the afternoon double class.

Karpinksi accompanied Hiltz and the class.  This was the first time Karpinski had snow shoed since she was in Grade 7.

“It was fun, I think the kids liked it,” she said.
