Element Panthers win bronze medal at Sask Cup 2

The Moose Jaw Element Panthers volleyball team competed at the Saskatchewan Volleyball Association Sask Cup 2 held in Yorkton over the weekend.

The Under-16 team finished the tournament with a bronze medal in a tournament of 25 teams. Saskatoon Total Chaos won the Sask Cup 2 and QCVC Royals from Regina won the silver medal.

In the round robin, Element defeated the Melville Steel City Attack in two sets and the Strasbourg Vikings in two sets. The team finished with a 3-0 record in the round robin after defeating Saskatoon Ultimate Chaos in four sets.

In the second round robin action, the Panthers were defeated in two sets by Prince Albert Toppers En Fuego, but rebounded with two tight victories over Weyburn Renegades. The team finished in second place after the second round robin, which put them into the Tier I playoffs.

In the quarter-final, the Panthers defeated Saskatoon Serious Impact in three sets. In the semifinal game against Total Chaos, the Panthers were defeated in two sets. In the bronze

medal game, Element downed the Yorkton Blitz in two sets.

The team will host a 10-team under-14 tournament this weekend at SIAST with the U14 Panthers team competing.

Up next, the Panthers will host a 24-team tournament on Apr. 14-15 at SIAST, Vanier Collegiate and 15 Wing.
