With the spring and summer like weather on the way, it’s time to get active and outdoors. The Moose Jaw Tennis Club is holding their early bird registration this weekend.

Those interested in getting a membership or wanting some more information should come to the tennis courts in Crescent Park on Saturday or Sunday from noon until 2 p.m. to take advantage of the early bird prices. All new members receive six free one-hour lessons.

“The doors will be open to anyone who wants to come down and sign up for their membership for the season,” said Drew Hager, club manager. “We have early bird prizes as well as information about the upcoming leagues and lessons that will happen in mid-May for all ages.”

The tennis courts have been in Crescent Park for over 100 years and will again be busy for another season, which opens May 7. With an average of 115 members each other, the courts will be busy during the mornings and evenings.

There is single adult, family, senior, junior and student divisions that members can play in during the season.

In the offseason, the board got together and decided to bring some new changes to the courts this year, including a new drop-in league where members can drop in to play instead of having to sign up and commit to eight weeks of league play.

“In the past, you would have to sign up and commit or else you would lose points,” explained Hager. “Now what we are doing is, is more of a relaxed style…now you can come down and pay $2 to play. That is something new with the club this year.”
