The final four in men’s singles field were settled at the Moose Jaw Tennis Club championships Friday.
Mike Denne came from behind to beat Jason Roney 5-7, 6-3, 10-6 in the game of the night in men’s singles action.
In the other quarter-finals, Kim Hagan beat Bryce Warren 6-5, 6-2, while Drew Hager beat Paul Caesar 6-2, 6-3 and Brian Swanson beat Cory Ellis. Ellis defeated Gregg Gower in Thursday’s late game to advance to the quarters.
In junior singles Stephen Holzer remained unbeaten with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Ben Wourms Rowe. In the other junior game Mathew Martineau beat Liam Young 6-4, 6-2.
In men’s doubles play Hager and Mike Pitzel beat Gower and Ron Johnson 6-2, 6-0. In the other game Mark LeBere and Kevin Pilsworth beat Roney and Ellis 6-3, 6-3.
In mixed doubles play, Gerry Gieni and Joan Buckmaster beat Bryce and Lindsay Warren 6-2, 6-4.
Action continues Saturday and most of the finals will be contested at 10 a.m. and noon Sunday.
