With the fall season fast approaching, the Prairie Edge School of Skating is preparing for another busy season on the ice.

Some of their CanSkate and StarSkaters were on the ice at Mosaic Place practicing and working on their routines on Thursday afternoon. The skating club is holding their fall skating program from Aug. 27 – Oct. 11 at Mosaic Place and the Kinsmen Arena with all skaters and coaches welcome to participate.

“All age level are more than welcome to come out and skate in our fall school,” said Jody Brown, Assistant General Manager and Ice Coordinator of Prairie Edge. “The little ones are practicing skating in a straight line and stopping. Some other girls are practicing some of their routines they may have developed over the summertime to prepare for competition.”

If those who are interested in going to the open skate, there is a fall program brochure on the Prairie Edge website with times, dates and locations. All the dates are open, which allows all types of skaters to come out to practice or have a session with a coach.

“Anyone interested can contact a board member or a coach personally,” said Brown of setting up a time.

Not only is the club holding a fall program, but for anyone that wants to join or check out the club can register this weekend. Prairie Edge is holding a registration event at the Town and Country mall on Thursday, beginning at 4 p.m., Friday at 4 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m.

“It is open for everybody,” said Brown. “Anyone interested in any of the levels can talk to us at registration.”
