Both Caronport and Riverview’s boys volleyball teams advanced to the quarter-finals of their respective SHSAA provincial championship, but neither team was able to come home with a medal.
At the 4A boys provincials in Nipawin, the Caronport Cougars finished first in their pool and advanced to the semifinals thanks to a 2-0 (25-21, 25-17) win over LaLoche.
The Cougars lost their semifinal to Oxbow 2-0 (25-21, 25-17) and then dropped a close bronze medal game to Shaunavon 2-1 (15-25, 25-22, and 25-23).
The Riverview Royals won their final pool game at 3A boys provincials against the hosts from Maidstone 2-0 (25-20, 25-21). That lifted their record to 2-2 in pool play and earned them a third-place finish.
In the quarter-finals they met a familiar foe — the Langenburg Screaming Eagles, the team that beat them in the regional final the previous weekend.
Once again Riverview won the first game, but lost the match to Langenburg 2-1 (20-25, 25-14, 25-19).
