A deep field awaits the two local hosts at the Moose Jaw Senior Girls Invitational when it begins Thursday.

The 16-team tournament features some of the top 4A teams in girls basketball in the province. Peacock, Humboldt and North Battleford made it to the final four in Hoopla a year ago while Central, Prince Albert St. Mary, Meadow Lake, Estevan, Weyburn, Balgonie, Melfort, Melville and Prince Albert Carlton are all looking to do the same this year.

There are also some quality smaller schools that will attend. Meath Park played in the 2A provincial final last year and Lake Lenore were 1A finalists as well.

Filmore and Frontier round out the field.

Peacock opened the tournament Thursday when they host Meath Park at 6:30 p.m.

Central will play Frontier Thursday at 8 p.m. at Central.

The quarter-final games will be held Friday at 7:30 and 9 p.m. at Peacock.

The semifinals will be played Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and the final is slated for 7:30 p.m. at Peacock.
