CALGARY - A trio of men who shot video while they killed ducks and ducklings on a prairie pond are now themselves being hunted by wildlife officials.

The video, posted on YouTube, shows two of the men firing rifles at the ducks while the third captures their glee on camera.

"Get it, get it, get it - Dave, you got him!" crows the cameraman as one of the men hits his target. "Oh, see the blood?"

It's believed the video was shot either in southwestern Saskatchewan or southeastern Alberta.

A spokesman for Ducks Unlimited, a group that works to preserve wetlands for hunters, called their actions "disgusting."

"Sportsmen don't shoot young waterfowl, they don't shoot flightless waterfowl," said Perry McCormick of Ducks Unlimited told CTV Calgary. "It's just waste and carnage."

He said the three men could face dozens of charges.

"They're shooting waterfowl with rifles, which is not allowed," pointed out McCormick. "They're shooting out of season, they're not collecting their game, which they're supposed to ... (and they) don't have licences."

The trio might not be that hard to track down - the video shows each of their faces clearly, including the camera operator, who at one point turns the camera on himself.

Anyone with information on the case is being asked to call the Saskatchewan government's tip line at 1-800-667-7561.
