NORWAY HOUSE, Man. - A woman was killed and several other people were injured when their fishing boat struck some rocks on a lake near Norway House in northern Manitoba.
A boat operator faces charges related to the impaired operation of a vessel causing death and bodily harm, as well as dangerous operation of a vessel.
RCMP say there were 11 people on board when the boat apparently collided with a rocky outcropping on Little Playgreen Lake Saturday night.
Many on board suffered non-life threatening injuries, but a 40-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were ejected from the boat, and a 20-year-old man was seriously hurt when he was partially thrown from the craft.
The 40-year-old managed to swim to a nearby island where he was picked up by search boats; the body of the unidentified woman was recovered Sunday.
