The Canadians hit the ball hard and often Tuesday night.
They turned 17 hits into 17 runs in four innings worth of at-bats as they posted a 17-4 win over the Park Hotel Giants in Memorial Field Fastball League play.
The Canadians first four batters of the night all came around to score and it didn’t slow down from there. The Canadians had eight extra-base hits to help spark their attack.
The Giants actually got off to a fast start as well as Dave Ballagh and Todd Ortman both singled in the top of the first and came around to score for a 2-0 lead. The Canadians replied with four in the bottom of the first thanks in part to Jeff Weekes’ two-run home run. They broke the game open with seven more runs in the bottom of the second to take an 11-2 lead.
Dane Roy was 3-for-4 with a double and a triple, three runs and two RBI for the Canadians. Chris Holoien had three singles and drove in four runs and also scored three times. Dave Helland was 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs and a triple.
Xavier Tremblay earned the win for the Canadians. He allowed 10 hits and struck out five. He also helped his own cause by scoring three times, hitting a triple and stealing a base.
Joel Jordison and Brett Friesen also hits doubles for the Canadians who hit four doubles and three triples.
Dale Garthus was 2-for-3 with a double for the Giants who also saw John Schmidt hit a double for them. Ballagh was 2-for-2 at the plate.
