It took nearly four hours and two game, but the Magic were crowned the Pee Wee city champions in the Moose Jaw Minor Girls Fastball League after two exciting games with the Sting.

“It was a very exciting and very intense couple of games — especially the last one,” said Magic coach Darrel Bitz. “They were well-played games from both teams and they were well-pitched games by both teams.

The Sting won the opening game 15-8 to force a second game immediately after. This time the Magic prevailed 9-8 to win the title.

After losing the opener, the Magic wasted no time getting going. They scored five times in the top of the first inning to grab a quick lead.

The Sting weren’t deterred though. They replied with three in the bottom of the first and scored four more runs in the bottom of the second to tie the game 7-7. Just when it looked like it was going to be a slugfest, both team’s pitchers took over.

In the fourth inning Emma Waldenberger scored her second run of the game for the Magic to give them an 8-7 lead. Chelsea Morhart extended the lead to 9-7 in the fifth with her second run of the game.

The Sting responded with a run when Courtney Patsack scored her second run of the game.

The Magic were looking to add to the lead in the bottom of the sixth, but Allie Wagner struck out two straight batters with the bases loaded to get out of the jam.

Morhart and Kylie Bitz pitched well for the Magic and in the seventh Adrianna Phillips came in and struck out the side to earn the save and end the game.

Mackenzie Johnson and Allegra Nelson each scored twice for the Sting.

The Sting were able to end the first game early on the mercy rule as they put together some big innings.
