Remax beats Giants 12-5 to win Game 1 of Memorial Field semi series

Remax put up a dozen hits and a dozen runs to open their Memorial Field Fastball League semifinal series with a comfortable 12-5 win over the Park Hotel Giants in five innings.

Games 2 and 3 of the best-of-five series are scheduled as a Thursday night double-header.

Pat Swallow hit a pair of triples, scored three runs and stole two bases for Remax who raced out to a 4-0 lead after an inning.

The Giants were able to score a run in the second, but stranded two runners in the second and third innings. In the bottom of the third Lee Behrns hit a two-run home run to give Remax a 6-1 lead and in the bottom of the fourth Scott Osmanchenko hit a two-run home run to put Remax ahead 8-3.

Osmanchenko scored three runs while Behrns was 2-for-4 with four RBI. Dave Beisel was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Remax.

John Schmidt was 2-for-2 for the Giants with a two-run double for the Giants. Terry Banilevic was 2-for-3 with a double and Rick Armbruster was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Tim McKaig earned the win for Remax as he pitched the complete game.

Dale Garthus suffered the loss for the Giants.
