The Kinsmen Sportsplex was a busy place Saturday afternoon as public swimming ran from 1 to 4 p.m., making for a full pool.
While some of the swimmers were out with friends, others had come with their families.
With such a crowd, the waterslide, the kiddie slide and the diving boards were all in constant use.
A lot of the families said they appreciated the smaller pool because young ones can play and have fun, too.
Jessica Huber, a Grade 6 student from Bethune, was at the Kinsmen on Saturday with her friend Timika Campbell.
"I've been swimming since I was three. It's really fun and enjoyable" said Huber.
She does it both for fun and for exercise. She likes going with her friends and sitting in the hot tub, as well as swimming in the pool.
"I take swimming lessons (here) and I'm in level 10." Huber does not compete in meets but simply swims for pleasure. "I swim every once in a while."
Jim Clark likes to bring his grandchildren swimming every so often.
"We're from Regina and we come over because the little kids can come in here," said Clark.
Clark said he goes out swimming when his grandchildren are with him.
"It's good exercise and we have fun."
When asked if he ever competed in swimming, Clark said "Oh I just do it for pleasure, I'm too old to compete." Clark said he learned to swim through trial and error.
Public swimming times are available throughout the day, from an early morning swim to an evening adult and teen swim. In between these public swimming times, there are numerous swimming lessons.
The Kinsmen Sportsplex has many different activities to offer. Many families are able to enjoy both public swimming and skating at the facility.
The Sportsplexhosts many hockey games, practices, figure skating practices as well as meets for competitive swimmers. During the spring and summer the ice is taken away and that area is used for box lacrosse.
