The seventh annual Moose Jaw Relay for Life, which raises money for Canadian Cancer Society, kicks off at 6:45 p.m. Friday at the Wakamow speed skating oval.
A total of 74 teams and about 850 participants will take part in the event no matter what the weather.
"As of (Wednesday), we had 215 survivors registered," said Relay chairwoman Lana Lalonde. "The theme this year is 'country', so we're calling it the Hope Hoedown."
Relay participants will spend 12 hours trekking around the skating oval, with at least one person on the track at all times.
According to Canadian Cancer Society statistics, Moose Jaw was fourth overall in the province in terms of money raised ($248,523), luminaries sold (2,047), survivors (224), teams (76) and people participating (866).
