Fresh off some breakthrough performances in Regina, the Moose Jaw Kiwanis Speed Skating Club is looking for more of the same when they host a meet at the Wakamow Oval.
“Now that the skaters have that first long track meet under their belt I think we’ll see them come out really anxious to get going,” said MJKSSC coach Glenn Kendall. “Now they know what they can do. They know what they’re capable of and they know what they learned. So we’re hoping all of that stuff comes back to the oval this weekend.”
Saskatchewan Cup # 2 will be held Saturday and Sunday. Each day will begin with ISU (or Olympic-style) competition taking place at 7:30 a.m. with the mass start skating beginning at 9:30 a.m. and last the duration of the day.
The local contingent began the long track speed skating season a week ago in Regina at the Sask Energy Western Regional Long Track competition where they had seven competitors finish in the top three in their respective category.
