They're not exactly an Odd Couple. Jaime Bromley and Kristina Segall are both accomplished young athletes, playing against each other in high school and as teammates on the Moose Jaw Bandidos soccer club. So maybe it shouldn't be a surprise that the two 17-year-olds both accepted a soccer scholarship to Medicine Hat College, where they have been living as roommates in residence for the past week. "We both went to the camp together, and we both really liked the coach and his coaching style," said Bromley. "We really wanted to live together, so we did that." The training camp took place last weekend, and team practices started Monday. But the focus, thus far, has been entirely on personal fitness. "They've been hard, they've been pretty much boot camp," said Segall, probably only half-jokingly. "We haven't really touched a ball yet because it's all fitness," adds Bromley, who admits her athleticism may have slipped a bit over the summer. "Probably not as high as it should have been. But I'm definitely not the worst on the team," she said. Even without scrimmages or ball drills, the girls have been impressed with the quality of the players on the Rattlers.
