Most under-10 soccer teams are in the early stages of their careers.
The Moose Jaw under-10 Storm were less experienced than most.
“Going into the season we only two experienced outdoor players,” said Storm coach Curtis Woloschuk. “About half had played indoor. We had two kids who had played a whole season of indoor and maybe four or five who played in a single indoor tournament.
“It was a very inexperienced team to say the least.”
Yet, the team progressed throughout the season and finished second in the Regina Soccer Association’s Division II under-10 league and were silver medal winners in the RSA Cup.
“We did well and progressed as the season went,” said Woloschuk. “As the season went on we gelled as a team and everyone contributed to the success of the team.”
The Storm tasted their biggest success when they beat the previously unbeaten UCT Young Guns 2-1 in the RSA Cup semifinal. The Young Guns won the RSA league championship.
“It was by far our best game of the year,” said Woloschuk.
