Provincial soccer championship wraps up Tuesday

The Moose Jaw Storm Under-14 team did their best to book a trip to the semifinals.

Now they have to wait to learn their fate  at the Youth Sport for Life Soccer Championship in Moose Jaw.

The Storm finished the round-robin unbeaten after tying Swift Current United 4-4 Monday afternoon in 11-a-side under-14 boys action.

The three group winners and the top second place team will all advance to Tuesday's semifinals (9 a.m., Canada Games fields). The Storm were waiting on results from other games before learning their fate.

They were mere minutes away from beating Swift Current in a close game, but allowed a late goal to settle for a tie.

Dieudonne Lusambya scored twice for the Storm and Kal McGillis and Fanes Thul also scored for Moose Jaw.

In the 11-a-side under-16 action, the Moose Jaw Storm lost their final pool game 2-0 to the Humbolt Hurricanes and failed to advance from their pool.

The action at the provincial tournament will conclude Tuesday.
