Let's face it - for many of us, seeing is believing and in the last few weeks, our vision has started to clear up a bit.
We all know the results of the two multiplex votes and it is obvious that the majority of those interested enough to get out and vote wanted the project to go ahead and were at least OK with the choice of the downtown site.
But it still didn't feel real. After all, people have been talking of such a facility for more than a decade in this city and it went nowhere for years.
It probably won't be real for some people until they can actually go inside, walk around, sit down and enjoy an event of some kind. That will be the actual believing for them.
But the sight of four gold-painted shovels digging up some loose dirt at the site Thursday made it a little more real for most people. The empty lots created in the weeks before gave us the first twinge this could really be happening. And the big hole that appeared Thursday after the sod-turning ceremony increased that perception.
It's time to let progress happen. Let the project be judged once it's had a chance to be functional rather than conjuring up all kinds of disastrous scenarios. Take a little joy from it instead. Who knows, this might just work out.
Its actually becoming real

Things are starting to take shape downtown, but I am wondering what is going to become of the OLD BUILDINGS sill left there ????
I/E/---The corner of 1st Ave N.W., & HIgh St W.
Surley to god they won't be left there, & the Multiplex built around them.
Can anyone answer this question for myself, & allot of other people wondering the same thing ? -

Typical TH comment. What about all the obvious flaws already showing up. 72 parking stalls ???? 60's style look to the building ??? Back alley of RSH's wasteland buildings around front entrance ??? No work permits for River street development as promised ??? No $40 million Spa expansion as promised ??? And construction hasn't even started, but don't complain. LOl
