The Moose Jaw Tennis Club wants to grow its presence in the city, and one way to attract kids to the sport is through a new special junior package.
The $60 deal offers new players between the age of 7 and 14 a free quality junior racket, a club t-shirt, a tin of tennis balls, a free barbecue meal and six hours of instruction and games.
The promotion is designed to help tennis' visibility during the sport-packed summer months.
"We're always in competition with soccer and other sports at this time of year," says club manager Jim Kirkpatrick. "At this time of year, there's a lot of sports out there, and a lot of kids might not have thought about tennis."
The various package components will be doled out to the recipients over a few weeks, with the barbecue coming at the end of the sessions.
"We feel this is a way to keep them coming back, instead of giving them the whole package and never seeing them again," says Kirkpatrick. "Hopefully this way, they'll stick around and enjoy the game."
The promotion will be available at the club's open house on both Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The deals are of limited quantity, so those interested are urged to come early.
