Central continued their strong play on the badminton court this weekend as they punched three tickets to the regional championships.
Playing at the district finals in Gravelbourg, Drew Hager and Stephanie Kendall won gold in boys' and girls' singles respectively, while Heidi Geyer/Jaimie Bromley picked up silver in the girls' doubles.
Cornerstone's Tegan Barr/David Dombowsky won silver in boys' doubles. The top two finishers in each category move on to the regional round in Whitewood this coming weekend.
"(We're) very pleased," said Central coach Brenda Dowling. "Drew and Stephanie played incredibly well and hopefully they will do well at regionals."
Dowling said that all of her Central kids competed hard at the tournament.
"They worked really hard, they were smart, they were making some really good shots. But at the same time, when they made bad shots, they learned from their mistakes," she said. "They didn't get too down on themselves, which sometimes can beat you. They just shook it off."
Also from Central were the girls' doubles team of Elyse Marzolf/Riviera Witko who finished with bronze medals. The team didn't finish high enough at the city championship to advance, but were bumped up after gold medalists Alysha Evans/Kristina Segall of Peacock were unable to attend.
