They wanted a medal at the First Nations national outdoor lacrosse championships, and that's just what Mitch Adams and Tyler Dobrescu got.
Adams and Dobrescu were the Moose Jaw duo on the provincial U19 field lacrosse team that won a bronze medal at the tournament, held over the Labour Day weekend in Edmonton.
Also, Kyle Dalgarno and Kale Lewchak were a pair of Moose Jaw players on the provincial U-16 team at the Alumni Cup, also held in Edmonton. That team went 1-4 and finished in sixth place.
The goal for the U-19 team, comprised mostly of Saskatoon players, was to medal.
"We had a pretty strong team this year," said Adams. "We gave B.C. and Ontario the best games they had all tournament."
Saskatchewan started off the tournament with a round robin win over Calgary 13-5 Friday and a 9-7 loss Saturday to British Columbia. Sunday they defeated BC 13-9 but lost Monday 14-12 to Ontario, knocking them into the bronze.
They defeated Edmonton 10-7 in the medal game Monday.
