The past few seasons have seen little to choose between the Peacock Toilers and Central Cyclones in the Moose Jaw High School Girls Volleyball League.
That seems to be true and then some in the 2009 campaign, with the last week offering further proof.
Mere days after falling to the Central Cyclones in the Moose Jaw Invitational semifinals, the Peacock Toilers rallied for a 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-16) victory over Central in league action at Peacock Thursday night.
That means the two teams finished tied atop the league standings with one loss each, with a sets won-lost tiebreaker to decide first place.
“The past few years in girls volleyball it’s been Central - Peacock, that’s the rivalry that’s built up and it continues,” said Toilers coach Lorne Polupski. “They beat us a month ago and again at the tournament last weekend, and tonight we come back and play very, very well against them and win.
“It so close between us right now, Central is a very good calibre team, and that’s why we battle for first and second.”
