Central girls advance to provincials from 5A volleyball regional

The Central Cyclones rallied to advance to the SHSAA 5A girls volleyball provincials finals in Weyburn.

The Cyclones beat Yorkton Regional 25-23, 25-9 at the 5A southern regionals at Peacock. Central lost to Balgonie 21-25, 25-17, 25-15 in the regional final, but both teams advance to provincials along with the hosts from Weyburn.

The Cyclones finished second in Pool A beating Weyburn 22-25, 25-22, 25-19 and losing to Balgonie 25-14, 19-25, 25-19.

In the quarter-finals they met Yorkton Sacred Heart and posted a 25-16, 18-25, 25-16 win.

The hosts from Peacock weren’t able to make it a Moose Jaw sweep.

Peacock lost 23-25, 25-22, 25-18 to Weyburn in the quarter-finals. The Toilers finished second in Pool B, but couldn’t finish Yorkton off losing 26-24, 18-25, 25-23. They beat Estevan 25-17, 25-17 in their other game. Saturday.
