There is little margin for error at the Saskatchewan Volleyball Association provincials.
After an exceptional season, the Moose Jaw Element Elite learned that the hard way this past weekend.
The 15-and-under girls volleyball team came into provincials as the top seed based on their performances in the Asics Cup tournaments during the season. However, they finished second in Division I Tier II at provincials.
“I think nerves had a lot to do with it. When the girls did find out that they were ranked No. 1 and then just the thought of being in provincials — I don’t think many of them were used to playing at a caliber of that level,” said Element Elite coach Adam Dowling.
“I always think that the girls can do better, but I was happy with that finish.”
The Element Elite lost a game Sunday morning that knocked them out of contention for a provincial title and into Tier II.
