Loonie opens on a downswing

TORONTO -

The Canadian dollar opened at 88.83 cents US this morning, down 0.43 of a cent from Friday's close. The U.S. dollar stood at C$1.1258, up 0.55 of a cent.

Pound sterling worth C$1.7905 up 0.87 of a cent, and US$1.5904 down 0.01 of a cent.

The Euro was worth C$1.5757, up 0.77 of a cent.
