The minister first congratulated the chamber’s new president, Dale Renz on his new position and then commended the Moose Jaw business community for its success in the last year.
He said to have seen a growth of 171 new businesses in less than a year is outstanding.
“Wow. I can’t help but notice that in an establishment (with a) date going back to 1888, some 120 years, and to see that in this year (alone) 171 new businesses were created right here in Moose Jaw — that’s a phenomenal feat.”
Cheveldayoff said not only is that very exciting for Moose Jaw, but for the entire province.
He said the people of Moose Jaw and commerce members are people with ideas that are helping the city and the province achieve and secure a bright future for Saskatchewan and its people.
“This is something the outgoing president, Darryl Pisio and all of the members of the chamber can take credit for.
“It is something that we can all be proud of and something that we can all build on.
“By making Moose Jaw stronger, you are indeed making the province stronger.”
Cheveldayoff also touched on the fact that Moose Jaw has over $130 million invested in future projects.
    “This is truly incredible.”
He said the expansion of the Temple Gardens Mineral Spa, Casino Moose Jaw, the River Street Development and the new multiplex “are evidence of not just prosperity but of the bold initiatives and forward thinking that creates prosperity and sustain it.”
Cheveldayoff also thanked outgoing Moose Jaw Mayor Dale McBain on behalf of the provincial government.
Cheveldayoff said, after watching McBain and his council members in action, he can appreciate and applaud the work and effort they have put forth to put Moose Jaw into the provincial spotlight.
The minister said it is no surprise Saskatchewan is an economic leader, not only in Canada but around the world.
