Thank You...MJ Transit!

In recent months, I have read some articles and complaints about transit drivers...and have also read about attacks on transit drivers in such places such as Edmonton, AB.  I fail to understand why these complaints and/or attacks happen.

For a minimal fee, the driver pulls over, stops and picks you up.  In a round a bout way, the same driver and or system, delivers you to your destination.  If not exactly there, somewhere close.    Sometimes, they also provide other services; not requiered by thier employer yet appreciated by thier customers.  Allow me to relate this story.

On Friday, Jan 22, our 5 month old Border Collie managed to escape the fenced confines of our yard.  He loves to run.  We managed to get him turned around with some calling, but unfortunately he was in an intersection at the same time a vehicle was moving through.  We were not sure if he was hit, but it looked as though he was.  Also,  at the same time, he decided to run a different direction.  I was able to follow his tracks for a block but lost them in the street.  We returned home to get the car and search.   Hours of searching found nothing.  We gave up late in the night/morning and hoped for scratches at the door.  The next morning revealed nothing in the front or back yard in the way of tracks and we expected the worst.  My wife, who uses Moose Jaw Transit in the morning, left to catch the 9:30 bus.  She was clearly upset, and the bus driver, who is familiar with her as a regular customer, enquired why.  She explained the situation and left our home number with him, in case he happened to see our puppy in his travels.

It came as quite a surprise when I got a phone call about an hour later.  It was from a Moose Jaw Transit driver who asked if I was missing a dog.  He then told me where my puppy was located.  Or at least it could be him.  As I was allready dressed, and getting ready to leave for another search, I quickly drove to the 'Last Seen' spot and there he was.  Anyone who has lost a puppy, especially in a snow storm, will know the relief I felt.

I sure wont tell a story about a transit driver, going around the block to 'keep a visual' because if a transit driver ever went off his route, it was only to get a senior closer to home in bad conditions.   I have seen this done, and its note worthy.  But for any other reason, not sure how the city bosses would feel.  But just so everyone knows....we have some great people getting us to work, and otherwise, everyday.   And there is one in particular, I would like to say....Thank You!
