National Volunteer Week at Empire School
April 18 – 24, 2010 was National Volunteer Week, the biggest celebration of volunteers and volunteerism in Canada. And Empire Community School wanted to make sure to honour the achievements and hard work of all the volunteers at their school this year. On Thursday, April 22 Empire School hosted a luncheon for the many volunteers who give of their time, energy and skills to the benefit of the students, school and community. They are the selfless individuals who show their concern for the well being of others by taking action and making a difference. Thanks to the generous volunteers at Empire School students have received such services as piano lessons, computer assistance, special programs, events and parties and volunteers also serve on the Empire School Community Council.
In the photo Mr. Steve Michaluk, principal at Empire School, addresses the volunteers and says a “thank you” at the noon luncheon.
